Installed in the Gruyère, Switzerland by our client Solar Project, this photovoltaic system was completed using Sun Ballast concrete ballasts. Thanks to their unique design, the installation was accomplished with minimal challenges, reduced installation time, and optimized costs.
Sun Ballast racking systems are composed of a single pre-assembled element that requires no roof penetration. They can be simply placed on any flat surface—whether membrane, gravel, concrete, or pavement—without damaging the roofing materials, offering complete flexibility in movement. For the 18 kW system shown in the photo, Sun Ballast was installed on a flat roof with a gravel surface. The EasyWest system enabled high energy efficiency and wind resistance without overloading the roof structure.
The EasyWest photovoltaic mounting system allows modules to be installed in a 10° tilt on their long side, creating an interconnected net of structures and panels. This innovative reticular system effectively distributes wind loads across the entire network, enabling the use of lighter ballasts and ensuring optimal weight distribution over the roof surface. Additionally, the dual orientation of the modules ensures energy production starts early in the morning, resulting in an efficient, robust, and secure photovoltaic installation.
