Sun Ballast flat roof structures for photovoltaic panels can be easily used on any type of building and ensure the best balance for PV systems between energy efficiency, roof load, and resistance to weather conditions.

The 51 kW system shown in the photo was installed by our client EIS Solar in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, using one of the systems from the Sun Ballast range – the Connect 5°. Thanks to the complete absence of anchor holes, the protective features of the bituminous membrane on the roof were not compromised in any way.Sun Ballast weights are simply placed on the surface, even in areas exposed to strong winds, minimizing installation challenges and time. The unique grid-like configuration of the Connect system – where all photovoltaic structures are interconnected into a single network – allows maximum wind resistance without overloading the roof and evenly distributing the loads across the entire surface.

Additionally, this installation features the No-Flex Kit: the addition of ballast and a special steel bracket secures the panels at two extra central points, providing exceptional stability even for larger modules. The “PowerClamp” clamps – made of high-quality steel – not only enhance the grip on the panel frame but also create an electrical contact point, greatly speeding up the grounding process for the PV system.
