Used for over 50,000 solar installations worldwide, Sun Ballast racking systems make installing solar on flat roofs much simpler and faster, and greatly reduces both installation times and costs. In fact, the ballasted racking systems offer high wind resistance without requiring roof penetrations: the structures are simply placed on the roof – even in areas that are most exposed to weather conditions – and guarantee the maximum level of safety and reliability in any situation.
The 18 kW system shown in the photo was installed by our customer, Intelligent Solar Services, on the sheathed flat roof of a residential building in Berlin, MA, and the Connect 10° system not only allows for the complete preservation of the integrity of the sheath membrane, but also evenly distributes the weight load throughout the entire surface. In this configuration, all the modules and their ballasted racking are interconnected in a single network, over which the wind loads are redistributed. Acting as an electrical bridge, the special “PowerClamp” steel clamps also electrically bond the modules, while offering a strong and long-lasting clamp.
Like all Sun Ballast racking systems, those that make up the Connect system contain M8 threaded inserts already pre-cast into the concrete, and are available in different weight increments based on the characteristics of the installation.
